THE FUTURE OF CHILDREN’S TELEVISION
At our parliamentary event in May, Simon Terrington, Content Policy Director at Ofcom, gave us up to date figures on children’s viewing habits, how much television they watch, the devices on which they watch it, what they like to watch, what they’d like to see more of. Simon’s analysis revealed the important role of television in children’s lives and also the growing dominance of YouTube.
It also found that children in the UK wanted to see more children like themselves on television. There was significant demand amongst older children for television that informed them about the world and told them about world events. For older children, television is the main source of news. Simon has kindly shared his slides with us.
